Staying Positive and Being Disappointed

I recently learned an event I was looking forward to in a couple weeks was canceled due to the delta variant surge, and over the weekend I was thinking about the impact of that and what the future might hold as we all continue to deal with the realization this isn’t even close to over.

All of us are doing our best to lead our organizations and teams through the impacts of Covid-19 and the rapid changes to our business operations and expectations. The stress and pressure of being an entrepreneur can be a lonely one and I hope you’re being mindful of your own mental health and keep the restoration of your personal energy at the forefront of your priorities list.

But you don’t have to do it alone. I have found great support in both large organized groups such as YPO or EO that are not industry specific and provide a deeply meaningful sense of community I can rely upon. And within my industry I’ve prioritized my involvement in all sorts of wonderful groups of like-minded business people. I’m not talking about networking groups. I like those, but I am recharged by finding communities for whom their only agenda is how to support one another without the need for a business deal to come from it.

The adage no one succeeds alone has never been more true. If you’re feeling like you might need a little boost as we enter the fall season, reach out, find a group, and serve.

Stay positive. New norms are emerging. Opportunities are plentiful, and I’ve noticed throughout my career, that as long as I do the internal work to keep my perspective fresh, the external takes care of itself.

If I can help or support you please let me know.
